The Heinen tannery has been producing at its present location in Wegberg , Germany , since it was founded in 1891. The location offers many advantages for the production of high-quality leathers:
- German raw material is bought nationally. Large cattle hides from Germany range amongst the world's best raw material classes: large surface, strong, clean in sorting and removal, without brand marks.
- Highly trained, motivated, and flexible employees guarantee consistently high product quality. At the tannery school in Reutlingen , Germany , there are opportunities for training and further education.
- World-leading producers of leather chemicals have their centers for research and development based in Germany and the neighboring countries. Newly developed chemicals can be tested and used in our production quickly and efficiently.
- Wegberg is centrally located with excellent connections to the airports in Düsseldorf, Cologne , Frankfurt, and Amsterdam , and to the seaports in Hamburg and Rotterdam . To our customers with production sites in Middle and Eastern Europe , delivery within one to three working days is possible without any problems due to our sophisticated logistics management.
- Water is the most important auxiliary material needed for the production of leather. In Germany , we have access to water of excellent quality and in sufficient quantity.
- The possibilities for the further ecological utilization or disposal of the by-products obtained during leather processing are ensured in Germany.
