Quality
The quality of any leather is determined by the raw material that is used. The Heinen tannery uses only German and central European raw material, which, in terms of quality, holds a top position in international comparison .
After liming (the process of hair removing), the pelts are split at the Heinen tannery. The splitting after liming supports flat and smooth leathers. A hide that is split later on as a wet blue may be produced at lower costs under some circumstances, but definitely shows disadvantages regarding its quality.
All the processes during liming, tanning, and dyeing are controlled by a central computer . A dosing system controls and records which chemical in what amount and at what time has been dosed fully automatically into the barrel. In addition, the temperature, the running direction of the barrel, its speed, and the time of running are controlled. This automation raises process security , reproducibility, and, last but not least, working hygiene.
The production of high-quality leather takes time. Although the general trend in tanneries is towards faster-working processes, we allow the leather to pause at different points during the production process. One can see the difference in the finished product.
The machinery at the Heinen tannery is permanently expanded and adapted to state-of-the-art technology.
The chemicals and auxiliary materials used in the production are purchased in Europe . Questionable cheap products are no alternative for us. This is our principal. The Heinen tannery only cooperates with certified chemical suppliers.
In-house quality systems ensure the tracing back of the leathers until the raw material supplier. Each single production step is recorded and at each production step, every employee takes responsibility with his signature.
A number of in-house tests are carried out on the finished leather before the leathers are shipped to our customers. In addition, we have our leathers regularly tested at independent institutes , following different criterions.
Due to the high environmental standards of each production step, our leathers do not contain any harmful or questionable substances. All our leathers are regularly analyzed to ensure our high quality standards are long lasting.
