Final Inspection |
In order to present our customers a perfect natural product, an extensive final inspection takes place in the Heinen tannery.
This inspection is either carried out by the customer himself or by the in-house quality manager.
Since all leathers are waterproofed at the Heinen tannery, special attention is given to the water testing of the leather.
With the help of a bally penetrometer or a maser tester, water permeability and water absorption are tested.
The leather's breathability is checked either by independent institutes or by our partner firm GoreTex.
Furthermore, during the final inspection, the leather thickness, color tone, feel and faultiness of each side is checked.
Since this is a natural product, small variations are possible;
it is these factors that give the leather its special charm and naturalness.
The measurements of each single side are entered into the computer system after the final inspection.
Afterwards, the leathers are bound together in bundles, piled on pallets, shrink-wrapped and shipped to our customers all over the world - ”just in time”.
